Since the Twilight movies weren't filmed in the real Forks, this is your opportunity to see the town that Stephanie Meyer based her epic teen romance books on. Are there truly vampires and werewolves there? Hear from the real people living their lives in the town fans know and love, including the Chief of Police, the Forks Outfitters' employee who gets mistaken for Bella, and the vampire transplant who plays the real-life role of Alice. Visit Forks High School, hear self-described Jacob's grandfather tell the legend of how the Quileutes descended from wolves, and see many more of the people and places that make Forks and La Push the perfect setting for the Twilight Saga. AMAZON Twilight in Forks: The Saga of the Real Town is not the Twilight film based on the book by Stephenie Meyer, but a documentary about the impact of the Twilight books and movies on the real-life town of Forks, Washington, the setting of Meyer's four-book Twilight series and the movies that followed them. Filmed in Forks, this 84-minute documentary presents extensive interview footage of the town's residents, including chamber of commerce members, store owners, students, teachers, and Quileute tribal elders, as well as a variety of Twilight fans from around the United States. Interspersed are absolutely breathtaking views of one of the most scenic places in the Pacific Northwest. Following a quick overview of the mystique of this rainy, yet beautiful area, the film is divided into six sections. The "Fans" segment is an enthusiastic celebration of all things Twilight, featuring interviews with a wide variety of Twilight fans, including star-struck teenage girls, their mothers and grandmothers, managers of Twilight-related websites, Twilight parodists, an MTV senior writer, and a middle-aged father who credits the Twilight series with bringing him closer to his teenage daughter. There's no denying that the Twilight phenomenon has hugely impacted the small town of Forks, and the "People" section of the film chronicles how Forks residents feel about the increased tourism in and visibility of their small town. The "Tour" segment focuses on the town's newly developed Twilight tours, and "Characters" highlights the town's real-life chief of police, doctor, restaurant owner, and Quileute tribal elders. The "La Push" section offers insight into historical tribal legends of the area through the words of Quileute elders Roy Black Jr. and Anita Wheeler, while highlighting tribal members' continuing celebration of the spiritual connection between people, animals, and nature. One especially interesting legend is that of the "changeover" people, in which, as Anita Wheeler describes, certain wolves were chosen "to set things right in the world" by becoming people and settling on the Quileute land now known as La Push. Finally, the "History" section details Forks' early days as a booming logging town, its more recent economic struggles due to decreased logging activity, and the current explosion of tourism in the area thanks to the popularity of the Twilight books and movies. Interviewees never quite reach consensus on whether vampires and werewolves really exist, let alone wander the woods and streets of Forks, and some of the interview footage is admittedly repetitive, even bordering on inane. Still, Twilight fans will find this real-life look at the small town behind the hugely popular Twilight series interesting and informative. --Tami HoriuchiDVDs ARE REGION 2 UNLESS OTHERWISE STATEDPlayback Region 2 :This will not play on most DVD players sold in the U.S., U.S. Territories, Canada, and Bermuda.
