Size 12.25" x 10.25". Please note that shadows in the photo are not in the actual image! In 1522 when Anne was attending Henry VIII's wife Katherine of Aragon she caught the king's eye. But Henry was unable to secure her as his mistress despite gifts and titles she and her family received. In 1533, pregnant with her first child she married Henry in a secret ceremony and the king broke from the Catholic church. His marriage to Katherine of Aragon was annulled and Anne was crowned Queen of England on June 1st 1533 at Westminster Abbey. Following two miscarriages and her increasing disagreements with Henry saw him became disenchanted with the marriage, and Jane Seymour took his fancy. Once Anne's enemy factions plotted against her she was doomed. Friends and associates were arrested on charges of treason and Anne was herself arrested on grounds of adultery and incest. She conducted herself with grace and dignity, denying the many trumped-up charges against her, but was condemned to beheading.
