CALEDONIA and BEN NEVIS F I N E & R A R E There are NO recorded postally-used examples of Anchor Line dual-view postcards of this era with the MENU ATTACHED!! It would be almost impossible to be mailed UNDAMAGED, with perforations intact!! CONDITION: excellent, all perforations intact, some light marks on the front, very clean and unwritten, undivided back, and generally exceptional for this era (1908). Rarely-seen item. A rare postcard if you are collect SCOTLAND, TOPOGRAPHIC VIEW CARDS, GREAT BRITAIN, NATURE, SHIPS, EDWARD VII-ERA, POSTAL HISTORY. The four trans-Atlantic liners of Anchor Line (Columbia 1902, Caledonia 1905, California 1907, Cameronia 1911) all had perforated menus attached to their postcards from mid-1905 until the start of WW1. Almost ALL Anchor Line postcards of this vintage offered for sale nowadays are the ship cards WITHOUT menus, or are the 1904-1908 regular, rectangular 3½" x 5½" undivided-back postcards. Only Columbia survived the War, the other three ships being sunk by torpedoes. THE "VISIT SCOTLAND BY THE ANCHOR LINE" POSTCARD SERIES: Apart from the 26 views of scenic places of interest in Scotland, including Loch Lomond and the Gourock Pier, which each have two differing views, there are other permutations in this series of cards which makes for a challenging assembly: (a) the postcards are printed in (at least) 6 different colors of card stock; (b) the wording format is in 2 font styles - Roman, and Olde English; (c) there are 2 different views of the four ships, namely ¾ starboard views, and port views.
