Description: [FLORENCE GRIFFITH JOYNER, OLYMPICS, WORLD RECORD HOLDERS] Offered here is a unique collection of ORIGINAL FLO JO OWNED ITEMS that were lost in a storage unit auction. Included are all the items shown including many which are signed and or unique. For example: Flo Jo's 'Jesse Owens Award' pin (the trophy is a large globe; seen in the photo of her standing w/ Edwin Moses, Al Joyner and others) which she won in 1988 (when there was only one award for both men and women; now awards are awarded for the best male & female athletes). The pin is now affixed to the name tag ribbon she is shown wearing in the photo after she signed it. Her personal business card as 'Co- Chair' of the Presidents Council on Physical Fitness. A handwritten speech for a group called 'Life of the Forest' from 1989. candid photos of her in several situations from working out at home to trying on a dress in Asia. 3 signed Polaroids of her; two of which are artistic & one with 'Lassie' (rare) A circa 1984 signed photo of her from the 1984 Olympics with her silver medal mark of '22.04' and her trademark long finger nails Her 'Runner's World' crystal glass trophy for being "GREATEST FEMALE TRACK PERFORMER' in 1991. Note the chipped corners. A nice (and cute) 8 x 10 (school photo ?) of her about age 7 This is a unique collection of images and artifacts from her Estate that we tracked down after selling some and returning others to the family by an arrangement years ago. Recently, we found additional items from one of the original auction buyers who had items they didn't realize were important. Having previously handled the other items, we knew exactly what these were and why they were important. We fully intend to keep these items together as a group and will not separate them for individual sale so please don't ask. A unique opportunity to acquire fine and important, one of a kind items from the all time WORLD'S FASTEST WOMAN ! Provenance:Many important personal effects previously belonging to Al Joyner and Florence Griffith Joyner were apparently lost by Al Joyner for non-payment of public storage locker fees. In the wake of Florence’s passing in 1998 and subsequent events, it’s possible he lost track of or forgot about paying the bills. We acquired this and many other items from 4 individuals who bought the items from the original storage locker auction. We are selling his and Florence’s effects for the benefit of collectors and in an effort to recoup our initial expense.
