Description: TIMOTHY LEARY’S DEAD AND LAST TRIP VHS TAPES - 1996/1998 PLUS THE MERRY PRANKSTERS Timothy Leary’s Dead - Released in 1998 by MVP Home Entertainment # MVP-812. It’s 85 minutes in length. Music by The Moody Blues, Jimmie Rodgers and others. Journalizing his final year before dying of cancer in May 1996, this documentary takes a sentimental walk down memory-lane to honor a man whose place in history is surely guaranteed. Probably best known for his oft-quoted (and misunderstood) 1960s phrase wherein Dr.Leary encouraged everyone to "turn on, tune in and drop out", the filmmakers sought to capture the real man behind the legend; vox-pops with friends, colleges and family pepper the storyline that made-up the multi-faceted man who was author, psychologist, teacher, guru, fugitive-from-justice and dignified humorist. We see him in his experimental 1960s, the hippie 70s, his thoughtful 80s and the futuristic 90s. Overall a very satisfying documentary about this extraordinary man. Ever the Professor, we see his musings on life & death and, after succumbing to the inevitable, we witness the (somewhat macabre) after-death cryogenic storage of his severed head for his optimistic, future generations to do with what they may. Timothy Leary’s Last Trip - Released in 1996 by WINSTAR Home Entertainment # WHE71017. It’s 56 minutes in length. U.S. documentary. 1960s LSD guru Timothy Leary was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 1995 so he embarked on a final trip with his friends Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters for a blow out at Wavy Gravy's annual "Hog Farm Pig-nic." This documentary follows Timothy Leary's career from his first days at West Point to preacher of LSD in the 1960s to his death in cyberspace. Lots a rare 1960s archival footage including the CIA's use of LSD in mind control experiments. Music by the Grateful Dead. Timothy Leary's Last Trip! Centering on Leary's relationships with key figures in the heyday of the drug era, archival footage and interviews chronicle the famous bus trip that first brought Leary and Kesey together. Insightful interviews with Leary toward the end of his life (he died of cancer in 1996), show that he dealt with terminal illness in a manner as colorful as the era with which he will be forever linked. Plus this bonus selection... MERRY PRANKSTERS LOOK FOR A KOOL PLACE 1999 Episode One – A Journey to the East. Here it is… the Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test as it really happened! In the summer of 1964 Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters set out on an acid-drenched adventure across America in psychedelically-painted 1939 school bus. At the wheel was Neil Cassady (Jack Kerouac's "Dean Moriarty" in "On the Road"). The group shot hours and hours of film and, separately, recorded sound. Afterward, the task of matching the sound to video proved to be too much work and was abandoned. It was not until the digital age that it was again attempted. This film was edited by Kesey and the Pranksters. You see them trip out, freak out, rock out and head out for an adventure that has never been, and never will be, duplicated. Both tapes are in excellent shape along with the boxes. Let me know if you want more pictures or have any questions. Both tapes for $ 25.
