Th. macdowellii is a miniature, usually unbranched at the roots, with flat to globose depressed stem, up to 4 inch in width, grey-green to light green, sometimes bronzed in full sun, spines 7-20, white, sharp. flowers appearing at the apex, diameter and height up to 2 inch, glossy pink.
