The Who - John Entwistle - Vintage owned leather vest 1970s

Description: Obtained directly by myself through Sotheby's John Entwistle Estate auction held in London 2003, this beautiful burgundy leather vest was part of a larger vintage clothing lot that I purchased. The original Sotheby's tags remain from the auction. The vest is in remarkable condition dating to the mid-1970s, with rich blue satin lining, dual external pockets on right and left, and leather covered buttons. Very slight discoloration on the sleeve openings from wear. On the reverse side of the outward buttons are matching burgundy tortoise shell buttons. There is a single interior button missing, second from the bottom, and this is the only flaw. There is no maker's label. My post-auction research identified this vest as the one Entwistle is wearing on page 116 of Richard Barnes' definitive book on The Who, "Maximum R&B" as well as on a mid-1970's poster from the same photo shoot. (NOTE: I have included photos of both the book and poster ... THESE ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE AUCTION AND ARE PRESENTED FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY). Entwistle signed a copy of the book photo for me years ago, and with the vest, it made for a magnificent display. Overall, this leather vest is in excellent condition and will be an impressive addition to the discerning fan's collection.
