Description: “AN ACHE IN EVERY STAKE” SOUVENIR MEMENTO UNIQUE DISPLAY. This brand new display includes an actual piece of the famed steps that were featured in the 1941 Three Stooges short, “An Ache in Every Stake.” The film depicts the trio as “Ice Men" attempting to deliver ice to a lady who is way up a long flight of stairs. It is regarded as one of the best episodes of the stooges with some of the great antics from Larry, Moe and Curly. The steps seen in the film have become a very popular tourist attraction to this day. (This stairway is not to be confused with the one seen in the Laurel & Hardy short, “The Music Box” although they are somewhat similar.) Behind the Scenes: a few weeks back, I made a trip to the actual location where the film was originally made and proceeded to walk from the bottom to the very top of all 147 steps. It was truly a rewarding thing to attempt as the terrain is pretty steep. As I was ascending the outdoor stairway and counting, I noticed that there were areas of the some of the steps that were in disrepair or crumbling. As the steps themselves were originally constructed in the early 1910’s, it stood to reason. Deciding to ‘rescue’ some of these pieces (without destroying anything) I thought what a fun souvenir it might make for true film buffs and enthusiasts of movie history. The memento comes in an attractive 3” x 3” x 3” lucite box and the ‘pebble’ is hot glued down over black paper. Along with an image of The Three Stooges from the film and identification of what the souvenir is, this is a legitimate collectible from the very site. (I have also included photos pointing out areas of the steps where the pieces were from.)
