This is the fascinating story of the oceans of the earth and the life they support, especially adapted for young readers from the original text of Rachel Carson's best-seller by the same title. Includes more than 150 marine photographs, maps and drawings in color and black-and-white. This hardcover book with fully colored illustrated boards is in Very Good condition, with the following items noted: there is some shelf-wear along the bottom of the boards, resulting in some loss of material; the book's binding is tight and pages are clean, save for age-tanning along the top of the book block and minor smudges at the bottom of two pages (see photos); slightly musty. The original unclipped dust jacket is in only Good condition, due to heavy age-tanning along the top edge, and many small tears along the edges and corners; the plastic coating of the dust jacket has peeled off in most places.
