Does not require filter to be clean to work. THE SCEPTER is designed to be placed OUTSIDE the filter for optimum performance and life. A plug for the filter cap is included. Experience shows us that as the Ace cell wears, it often indicates a low salt level so people add more salt. When the cell is replaced, the control panel will often say to call for service because of this. This condition is solved when water is drained until salt level falls to 1500-2000. 1750 ppm salt is the ideal level. This is why AquaChek salt strips are included so you can accurately determine the correct salt level. Shutting off power to hot tub at breaker will also reset status and bring back into operation in boost mode. When in boost mode, bubbles will be coming from the cell indicating chlorine production. It is recommended that hardness is kept at minimum 200 to protect metal parts from corrosion. Physical damage is not covered under warranty. recommend using phosphate remover to maximize cell life. WARRANTY CLAIMS ARE NO HASSLE BUT REQUIRES RMA & RETURN OF CELL and limited to replacement of cell only. WARRANTY TIME STARTS 2 WEEKS AFTER SHIPPING. MOST PROBLEMS CAN BE ADDRESSED OVER THE PHONE.
