Description: A rare find. A century old collection of The Rover Boys books by Winfield/Stratemeyer dating from 1899-1921. These predate the successor boys series of the Hardy Boys. There were 30 volumes printed during this series and this is 15 of them-all with their original dust covers! They are as follows: The Rover Boys At school (1899) * On the river (1905) At college (1910) On a hunt (1920) In New York (1913) Out west (1900)* In the ocean (1899)* Land of luck (1921) Snowshoe island (1918) In the air (1912)* In camp (1904)* In the jungle (1899)* In Alaska (1914) In land and sea (1903)* The bindings are good and the dust jackets are quite good on most of them (see pic). The pages are of course yellow from age but still good. The books with asterisks have a scribbled name on the first page of the previous owner but otherwise no writing or damage to the texts. It is remarkable to have assembled so many of these popular turn of the century young adult stories of Dick Tom and Sam written under the pen name of Arthur Winfield whose real name was Edward Stratemeyer, but even more so to have their 100+ year old dust covers as well. Tough to set a price on this unusual collection.
