If it were sentient, it could tell of over a hundred years full of lives it has touched and hands it has passed through. Every year, more of these irreplaceable treasures are lost-- to fires, floods, etc., or simple carelessness. It is my hope to rescue as many as possible and help them find homes where they will be cherished and passed on to future generations. There is no date printed inside the book, but according to the Lucile Project website, the National Book Company was owned by one of the Lovell publishing brothers and established to distribute books with the United States Book Company in 1890. This venture lasted only 3 years, and I can find no mention of the National Book Company after that. No writing, page tears or odors.
