She has educated others about disabilities by simply being herself and by answering questions. She has stood up against institutional discrimination when going to college and getting her drivers license because she understood the importance of being the voice of the people. She has been encouraged to experience life to the fullest and do anything and everything possible by her incredibly supportive family. Sheila is dedicated and determined advocate with a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice. Her bright personality, ability and determination are so apparent that you may not even realize she has a disability. Today Sheila is an advocate for people with disabilities, drives a car with her feet and has been featured in newspapers and radio stations national and international for earning her Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. Sheila was a Volunteer Coordinator at Healing Abuse Working for Change (HAWC) and currently works at the Northeast Independent Living Program providing advocacy within systems to empower persons with disabilities to achieve vocational and medical success.
