Description: This is a rare, limited edition, 5 volume copy of The Heptameron of Margaret, Queen Of Navarre, a collection of 72 short stories by Marguerite de Navarre (1492–1549). It includes an essay by George Saintsbury. This printing was number 42 of only 312 copies of this limited edition published in 1894 by The Society for English Bibliophists. It includes 73 full-page engravings by S. Freudenberg printed on Japanese paper, as well as 150 head an tail pieces by Dunker. The books are bound in yellow buckram cloth with red leather labels. It was printed on unbleched, handmade paper, with uncut edges. The volumes are 9 1/1” high by 6” wide. I ship books carefully and securely in protective boxes.
