Description: 1909, 50 volume set. I searched a number of sites and numerous “Harvard Classics” sets and couldn’t find this particular set anywhere, thus the “rare” designation. I did find one individual volume on EBay. That site called this a 1st edition but I don’t have any way to verify that. Besides a few very minor flaws throughout this 114 year old set there is one noticeable, age related change you should be aware of; the spine has faded to kind of a reddish/tan color. This doesn’t effect the gold embossed wording or the lines between them in any way. All of the volumes are complete, solid and very clean. No writing, highlighting or markings of any kind. This set is in excellent reading condition, or would be a great addition for any collection.
