Description: Gibson has made the SG Special from1961 through the present and their Epiphone line has made an SG Special in China from 2013 through the present. This 2023 Epiphone SG Special axe has a solid Mahogany body which enhances the tonal richness and sustain. While some2024 limited editions still utilize solid mahogany for the body, the 2024 SG Specials have been being made using a Poplar body w/Mahogany Veneer.The guitar has a slim taper D-profile Mahogany neck and an Indian Laurel fretboard of 22 medium jumbo frets with Pearloid dot inlays, just like vintage SGs. Current models have a Rosewood or Okoume fretboard, and while some still have the 650R & the 700T pickups, some have Epiphone P-90-PRO single coil pickups.It’s a 24.75 scale model with the famous double horned design and was made in China. It’s powered by 2 open-coil Epiphone humbuckers: the 650R in the neck position & the 700T in the bridge position. These ceramic pickups have a sharp, articulate, and saturated tone that’s a perfect complement to the SG Special’s mahogany body and offers a wide range of tonal options. The pickups are controlled by a three-way toggle switch along with separate volume and tone controls, allowing for versatile sound shaping. The tone control on this guitar isalso a GT KillPot switch (so it functions as both a tone control and a killswitch). When you push the knob, it temporarily cuts the signal, allowing forcool stutter, staccato, or tremolo-like effects during play. You resume theguitar's normal operation when the button is released. This feature adds aunique dimension to your playing style, while still allowing you to adjust thetone as you would with a standard tone control. It’s a simple additional givingyour fingertips the ability for sound divergence in your playing techniquearsenal.Hardware is black and chrome. The EPIUltra Stable LockTone Tune-O-Matic Bridge and StopBar provides the SG Specialwith decent sustain, as well as tuning stability.Guitar may contain swirl marks,small dings, finish irregularities, and/or small scratches.
