The jacket design has a British flair to my eyes, as I am a San Francisco native and cannot recall any cobblestone streets in this beautiful city. {Actually, I stand corrected: there are one or two cobblestone streets here, and there were even more back in Hammett’s day, so don’t listen to me.}.Because of its size, this is a difficult issue to find in great condition. Cassell had to use thin paper stock to squeeze nearly 1,000 pages into one volume. With that in mind, this copy is not too bad.
