In 1943, Charles Bailly, a French POW in Germany during the Second World War, decides to escape from the farm, where he's been placed as a forced laborer. Apparently, he's both cunning and crazy enough to try and get back to France by simply walking there. And so, he starts his journey holding farm cow Marguerite's tether in one hand and a bucket of milk in the other. His many adventures with the cow teach him a great deal, not only about his fellow man -- some of whom are sympathetic to his aims and some not -- but also about man's ability to form close relationships with animals. After promising to never eat veal again, he separates from the cow to jump on a train, which, unfortunately, is heading to Germany. Thus, he ends up returning home from captivity two years later, just like all the other POWs. IN FRENCH WITH OPTIONAL ENGLISH AND SPANISH SUBTITLES. APPROX. 112 MINS.
