Description: The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas Illustrated and signed by Lynd Ward Introduction by Andre Maurois. Published by the Limited Editions Club (#271 of 1500 copies) The Count of Monte Cristo is arguably one of the greatest novels ever written. It is a novel about love, betrayal, struggle with faith, revenge, redemption, and forgiveness. All four volumes are gloriously illustrated by Land Ward with a frontispiece and numerous head and tail pieces. The illustrations in each volume are in a unique color. The books are in VG+ condition. The spines are very slightly faded, as is the red coloring of the top edges of the pages near the spines. There is mild discoloration on the bottom edges of the pages near the spine. There is an area of discoloration on the inside of the front covers on all volumes, most likely from a book plate that was removed. All books have a small owner's book stamp on the inside of the back covers. The interior pages are very clean. The slipcase is in VG- condition, with minor loss of paper on the edges as shown. There is no Monthly Letter (ML).
