Description: The Chicago Digest Newspaper dated October 9 1893 Full 8 page paper 24" x 18" In October of 1895 Joseph Dunlop was indicted for mailing copies of the Dispatch which was said to contain "obscene, lewd, lascivious and indecent matters." He served 21 months in the Joliet prison. Paper has multiple mentions of the World's Columbian Exposition Fair and an advertisement for Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. Within the listings for hotels and restaurants is a listing for 703 Sixty-Third Street. H.H. Holmes World's Fair Hotel was said to be at 701 West Sixty-Third Street but stretched the entire block and had several different business on the main floor. The listing reads: "Restaurant, 703 Sixty-third-st. Fine rooms from 50c upward. Give me a call once and you will try it again. Meals 25c. C.A. Phillips, pron." Classified section has several mentions of women who are "pleased to take parties and friends" with addresses in the red-light Levee district area. The paper is a salmon color due to the paper it is printed on. Has some deterioration along the folded edges but overall good. The pages can still be turned without damage.
