Description: Eat like the elite of 1980s Atlanta! The Broker's Cookbook: Uncommon and Preferred Recipes is a rare, vintage collection of recipes put together by employees of the Robinson-Humphrey Co of Atlanta, Georgia, in 1981 (first edition). Robinson-Humphrey was a securities broker and financial advisory firm and one of the city's oldest and most important companies (later acquired by SunTrust). It has a humorous cover noting that "the Company's recipes are traded over-the-counter symbol YUMY. The closing bid price on Nov. 27, 1981 as reported by GORMET, was $6.00" and "The Company and Menuwriters have agreed to indemnify the Contributors against indigestion ..." The opening pages include a Letter to Bookholders and an essay, "The New South, R-H, and You," which provides a history of 20th century Atlanta and the company's place in it. The table of contents lists the following sections: Beverage Leverage; Blue Chip$ and Dip$; Municipal Bun$; Eggstra Dividends; Hot and Cold I$$ue$; Market Order$; $hort, Intermediate and Long Vegetable$; $hort Gain$ and Long Term Lo$$e$ (Desserts); and Odd Lot$ (Miscellaneous). The recipes have both vintage and Southern flair; examples include Savannah Okra Soup, Crab Louis, and Shrimp Etouffe from contributors based in Southern cities. This book is spiral bound with a laminated paper cover. The cover has marks, scuffing and tears but it holds together. Inside pages are aged around the edges but crisp and unmarked. This is overall in "Good" 40-something-year-old condition. Item will be packaged with care and shipped ASAP.
