Description: Description: This auction is for an original 1928 production contract between Samuel Goldwyn Inc. and Alona Marlowe. The contract was for her role of "Bar Maid" in the 1928 film titled THE AWAKENING. This contract is hand signed on the bottom by the Samuel Goldwyn Inc. Vice President, Abraham Lehr. It is also hand signed by the artist, Alona Marlowe. This contract includes the 1 contract page shown in the photos above. It has a 1-inch tear on the left edge along the fold line. More Information: Alona Marlowe was born on July 23, 1908 in St. Cloud, Minnesota, USA as Ilona L. Goetten. She was an actress, known for The Way of All Men (1930), The Argyle Case (1929) and Howdy Mate (1931). She was married to Ross William Cortese. She died on March 24, 2006 in Los Angeles, California, USA. Sister of Louis Marlowe, set decorator Armor E. Goetten and actress June Marlowe. She and her husband founded the company that developed Leisure World Communities across the nation. A paid obituary in the L.A. Times on April 23, 2006 says that Set Designer Armour Goetten was her brother. Another brother Gerald was under contract with MGM. Along with her husband, Ross W. Cortese, they developed the "Walled City of Rossmoor" in Los Alamitos, California. Co-founder of the School of Gerontology at the University of Southern California, with her husband Ross Cortese. Accused Lilyan Tashman of assault after the actress found her in husband Edmund Lowe's dressing room, flew into a jealous rage, and attacked her. The charges were later dropped and Alona was awarded a small fee. In retellings of this story, Alona is often confused with her better-known sister, June Marlowe. According to her obituary in the Pasadena Star-News, Alona began in real estate by taking courses at night at Hollywood High School while still under contract to MGM. Mother of Heidi Cortese. Any scripts printed or used in any fashion after filming has completed are known as either a reproduction or a post-production script. These two types of scripts are much less valuable and desirable. All of our scripts are "Original." • An original movie script has a lot of character in the item itself and every one of them is different in some way or another. There is usually only one script given to each crew member during production, however, sometimes they do get more than one. This makes original movie scripts very desirable because of how scarce they are. Any changes made to the screenplay during production are known as revisions and these revision pages are inserted into that one script that was issued out to them. For example, if we are talking about a low-budget film with a small cast and only a few crew members, there are actually only a small number of scripts in existence around the world for that film. This aspect of collecting makes it fun but also difficult because there may be a certain writer or director that you love to collect and there may only be a handful of movie scripts that still exist from that specific film that you are looking for. The older a film is you also have to figure in the fact that a lot of the original movie scripts have been thrown out or destroyed over time. We do our best to provide the widest selection of original movie scripts in the world.
