Description: Techcraft Vintage Computer Cable Printer Cable NOS in Original Packaging Description Up for sale is a vintage dot matrix style printer cable that's still in its original packaging. This cable has been lying around the house for ages and sat in a storage bin at one point or another in its life after being relocated from a rather dusty shelf. It was found in a storage bin about a year or so ago and put up for sale in a lot, however, since I now have my store opened once again, I've decided to list it on its own to any and all parties interested. I can't say for sure as to whether or not this packaging was ever opened at one point or not, for I do see a pair of staples holding it together... however, this can mean one of two things; either the cable was taken out of its original packaging and then immediately put back with a pair of staples holding the packaging back together again or the staples were part of the original packaging but a part of it; like say a piece of cardboard that would indicate what the product was with a sombrero hole to hang it on a store rack display and whatnot - has since gone missing. And to add a little more confusion to it all... there's a circular dot printed on the bag itself which is where one would expect to see a hole punched for hanging the bag from a store display (like say Radio Shack; which is most likely where we got it from back then). I'm guessing that out of these two aforementioned scenarios; it's probably the latter that's the more likely; as the cable appears to have a pair of zip ties on it... mind you, zip ties were not something we would have easily purchased back in the day (we're talking mid to late eighties here) so chances are that the zip ties included in this packaging are the original ones that came with the printer cable as well. Anyways, this seems to be a regular printer cable (even though the packaging lists it as a Fully Shielded High Quality Computer Cable... pretty vague, I know) with the DB-25 connection on one end that has a pair of adjustable screws with slotted inserts for flat head screwdrivers. The pins are also gold (gold contacts is always a good thing) and it has a blue colored backdrop in the socket itself. The other end of the cable is the usual 36 pin socket (which I've never really figured out as to whether or not this is a female socket or perhaps a male one). Chances are likely that it has to be a female socket since no pins are protruding, however, the mid portion which is also blue with gold contacts is somewhat sitting proud within the shroud of the socket itself... so your guess is as good as mine here, folks. Another thing I'm not certain about is the overall length of this cable... my best guess here is that it has to be at least six feet long; judging by the amount of loops on the cable and how short it looks inside the bag, but I can always be wrong. There is no indication of what the length is anywhere on the outside of the packaging. All I have to go by is the information listed on the lower right corner on the front of the bag which lists the following features of this cable. - Gold Plated Contact. (Funny how the manufacture failed to list this as plural, isn't it? One contact to rule them all it seems!) - Molded PVC Boots. - Extra Long Thumb Screws and finally - 100 % Aluminum Mylar Foil Shielded. The bag is branded as Techcraft. Immediately below the Techcraft branding there's a subtitle that reads Computer Interconnected Accessories with the country of manufacture being listed as made in Taiwan. The cable also has a gray color to it. In the evolution of peripherals, I can't exactly recall at what time the color gray was introduced... that is, if it was before, after, or during the white/beige era of computer products and what have you. And here's some more information, provided courtesy of eBay's AI description feature..."This vintage computer cable is a rare find for collectors and enthusiasts alike. Its unique design lends itself to compatibility with a variety of vintage computers from different eras. Made with high-quality materials, this cable is a reliable and durable addition to any vintage computer setup. Whether you're a seasoned collector or just starting your vintage computer journey, this cable is a must-have item that will enhance your experience." Please note that this printer cable has not been tested and I really don't believe that it's ever been used; as there were other printer cables that we had back in the day which we made use of... which I'm also coincidentally selling right at the very moment as well. Anyways, I'm pricing this item to move, so please be sure to get in on this deal while it still lasts, for my loss is your gain as they say in the trade.
