This bottle stands 7 1/8 inches tall, a choice dug example, with excellent color that has not been tumbled. Absolutely remarkable condition for a dug bottle, this is exactly how the bottle came out of the ground a few years ago and it is now fresh to the market. Dennis Heenan was part of the famous 116th Pennsylavnia Regiment - Irish Brigade. He was a bottler before the Civil War, was killed in the war and the firm ceased to operate after his loss. The following text is from the PA Volunteers of The Civil War site: 'On the 11th of June, 1862, Dennis Heenan, a citizen of Philadelphia, of considerable experience in militia duty, and who had served as Lieutenant Colonel of the Twenty-fourth Regiment, received authority to recruit a regiment of infantry'. I've had the privilege of selling about 4 of the 'Fighting Irishman's bottles over the last 4 or 5 years and this example is as nice or the nicest one I have sold, not just a bottle but a true piece of American History that can be held in hand.
