Taxco is often called the silver capital of the world for the beauty of its creations. . It is stamped T something -20 something (I cant read it; its illegible) Mexico 925. Mexico adopted this hallmark style in the late 1970s, where the first letter stands for the city in which the artist lived, the second the first letter of the craftmans last name. The number represents the order of registry. Unfortunately, Mexico did not keep records here so its hard to know who the artist is who created this piece. T stands for Taxco. 20s is a low number relatively speaking, given the number of people whose last name might have begun with the letter "E" who have been silversmiths in Mexico since the 1970s.... so this piece might have been created by an older artisan. It weighs 18.2 grams; the space when unlatched is about an inch and a half ; 2.5 inch diameter. More information on Mexican hallmarks can be found on the wonderful site 925-1000 dot com.
