Description: Colorful vintage unframed impressionist painting of the iconic Taos Pueblo in New Mexico, painted in a bright palette, oil on canvas laid on board, 12" by 14", signed at lower right with conjoined initials "MP", a typical signature of California artist MARION RANDALL PARSONS (1878-1953). Parsons was born in San Francisco and lived most of her life in the Bay Area. A bold and independent woman for her time, she befriended Wanda Muir, daughter of famous naturalist John Muir, and through the friendship with the Muirs became very active in the nascent Sierra Club. She was an active outdoorswoman, climbing some 50 major peaks in the western US and Canada. I do not see specific information placing her in northern New Mexico but considering her wide travels it would not be unlikely that she would have been there. CONDITION: painting has been abused, will need restoration of the paint loss concentrated in the right hand side of the composition. See close-ups to evaluate.
