Description: For your consideration is a vintage 1986 Tama Japanese Birch Drum Set in the Super Maple finish. The sizes are 10x8, 12x8, 14x10, 15x12, 16x16, 18x16, 24” (no snare drum, just shell pack and Tom holder). I’ve been buying and selling rare drums since the 90’s, and this is the best conditioned Tama kit that I’ve ever come across. Chrome is highly polished and clean. All original tension rods and fittings. Bearing edges are original and sharp like the day it left the factory. Finish is vibrant, and honestly pictures don’t do it Justice. This set was discovered in a little mom and pa music store in rural Stone Mountain Georgia. It sat on a platform in the middle of the store for eye candy. Unused with dust on it. Originally the kit came as a 9 piece monster set with one other 24 kick drum and a 13” Tom. I sold them because I just didn’t have the space. The craftsmanship on these vintage superstars is so underrated. On the inside of the shells is high quality birch veneer. The entire kit was sourced from hokkaido birch from Japan. These drums are just whole different league then the new reissue. Even the level of chrome plating is deeper in the vintage kits. As you see in the pictures, I also attached the high end INDE Tom mounts. These mounts fit the original holes and let you slide up and down to increase or decrease sustain. They’re also less bulky then Rims mounts. The drums are thick and heavy, but so is the tone. I would describe the sound as full of low end and punchy, like a more aggressive Yamaha recording custom. I will consider trades for Sonor Rosewood Phonic or signature models, and Roland drums. I prefer pick up, but can work out shipping. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
