Description: Superb very large Royal Vienna Charger by J.H. Bacon this is circa 1890 and has the beehive mark and the number 1436 on reverse. . The subject matter is Hamlet and Ophelia and signed J H Bacon {both of these are on the plate} As stated this is a very large charger or wall plate it has a diameter of approx'y 33cm or 13" This is in extremely good condition, no chips, cracks repairs or crazing, the gilding is showing some wear on the on the similar to Greek key part of the pattern and there may be a very small amount of gold missing elsewhere but very minor. It still has its metal hanging hook on reverse. This is not a flat plat or charger it the sides curve upwards a bit. There are two or three very short light scratches in one of the blue panels. A wonderful chance to acquire this superb cobalt blue plate in a size that doesn't appear very often.
