Description: Superb Antique Handmade French ladies Bonnet - Linon hand embroidered, Double flounce with bobbin lace edging. 25cm deep30cm Height It was once a part of the trousseau of Hélène de Lestrange, the wife of Count de La Rochelambert. Some of the items I'm selling on eBay have the count's crown embroidered. The provenance: Rochelambert Castle is perched on a basalt cliff, the remains of an extinct volcano. The castle can boast a unique private collection of artworks, Romanesque and Gothic sculptures, tapestries, paintings, and furniture from the 12th to the 19th century. The oldest recorded traces of human presence in Europe were found in this area, and it has been continuously inhabited since the Neolithic era. The Rochelambert family lived here from the 12th century. The Huguenots, led by Sieur de Blacon, burned down the castle in 1562. It was then rebuilt by Marquis François de La Rochelambert and his wife, Hélène de Lestrange, during the Renaissance. George Sand briefly stayed here in the 19th century. The castle is filled with charm. It fires the imagination with marvelous legends and adventurous tales of chivalry. Rochelambert is the castle where the princess lives in the tales written by Perrault. The mere mention of Sleeping Beauty brings our childhood imaginations to life.
