Description: RARE IRON “COLT’S PATENT” ROUND/CONICAL BULLET MOLD FOR THE WELLS FARGO MODEL REVOLVER! According to the hardcover Rapley book, this rare transitional Colt mold (#M-18, P. 124) was originally made during a short time for the early Colt 1849 “Wells Fargo” revolvers in the 55,000 serial number range, circa 1853. Thus this iron .31 caliber variation mold rates as extremely scarce. Measuring 4-3/4” in overall length, it casts one (1) conical bullet and one (1) round ball and is ideal for an early, small-trigger guard Wells Fargo Colt revolver. Guaranteed original 19th Century Colt manufacture. Cavities are dark and appear unused. No marks or dings, just a smooth dark iron age patina overall. Sharp “Colt’s Patent” stamping (see photos). Appears to have been blued originally, as it shows a soft bluish patina. In all, a rare and important addition to your Colt collection. Use it to finish off your cased set, or for display, as these rare iron molds are very scarce to find in this rarity and condition. From a private collection just taken from an old local estate, hidden away and out of sight for decades. Just this one. Don’t miss out -- bid now to make it yours!
