Description: Vintage Ovation / Super Adamas 1687-5 Black Unknown year, but serial number is 6944-85 and I cannot find this number anywhere in order to date it. The label is hand signed by CW Kaman II. Custom shop color: Black with Gold glitter. I purchased it used in 2006. It had been in storage for ten years before that. Condition is very good. Some small marks here and there, but nothing significant. Sound is excellent! A true guitar player's guitar. A very nice person has helped me date the guitar. His message is as follows: "I can help with that date. Your 1687 (serial 6944-85) dates it to late 1992. The "-5" behind the model number indicates color (black, of course). -2 was red, -8 was blue, etc. First production model was 1977. Last production year was 1997. It was reintroduced again in 2005. Retail price in 1992 was $2799. Ovation's flagship model. Extraordinary guitars. Cheers!"
