Description: DC COMICS DC Studios HBO MAX PEACEMAKER Comic Book Key James Gunn's Suicide Squad spin-off Peacemaker is a decisive win for the DCEU from a director known for bringing the lesser known characters of the Marvel Universe - and now the DC Universe - into the light and onto the big and small screens of fandom popularity. Gunn definitely surprised new fans of the series as well as longtime DC readers with the revelation that the PEACEMAKER's dad -- AUGGIE SMITH -- was none other than one of DC's earliest Suicide Squad villain-members, THE WHITE DRAGON. Longtime readers, though, might have been surprised for a different reason, however. White Dragon of the original Suicide Squad was secretly WILLAM HELL, or W. JAMES HELLER). While a villain, he was neither Peacemaker's father nor the white supremacist to the extent that he was on the HBO Max series. In fact, his only commonality with Peacemaker at all is that both he and Peacemaker served on the Squad, years apart from one another. In the DC Comics, Peacemaker's father is instead a man named WOLFGANG SCHMIDT, a white supremacist to be sure and never a costumed villain, though some might say worse than one as he committed suicide before his six-year-old son's eyes. Thanks to that incident, the Peacemaker was born. Nevertheless, John Ostrander's fourth issue of DC's post-Crisis Suicide Squad is the book that caught James Gunn's attention and inspired him to honor another member of DC's Squad while fleshing out a second DC character and bringing both to newfound life as familiar but all-new third character named Auggie, the White Dragon of the former DCEU, and now the all-new DC Cinematic Universe.
