Description: 1) The star: a rare side-opening slide lock, antique Asian origin (probably China), with ornate engraving and beautifully complex key figuration. This lock works, but I suggest some careful lubrication before continual operation! Most of these genre of locks have endcap keyholes, I have only found a couple of others online with the side-sliding mechanism. 2) The supporting player: a Big Boy with a patina of journeying through the decades, with fortitude. (This lock also works; please treat with thoughtful lubrication before continuous operation/demonstration.) These locks were purchased together in the mid-1990s at a Miami antique store with a room specializing in fine metal work including knives, pistols, locks/fixtures, and tools. Both have been kept safe from moisture, part of a small personal collection of international relics and artifacts the gods have decided will be moving on to new cultural stewardship.
