Stunning Vintage 1960s 2-piece Geoffrey Beene silk dress

Description: This absolutely stunning Geoffrey Beene 2-piece dress was owned by mother and purchased sometime between 1964-1968 (I can tell by the address written on the inside seams, which was for a house we lived in during that period). I have held onto it for all these years because I loved its simple elegance, though I never wore it. It's now too small for me, but it would make a wonderful high end resort wear outfit (think Palm Beach), or even a tailored wedding dress (with a fabulous hat, of course). Now to the details: - FABRIC: silk shantung. Fully lined. - 2 pieces plus belt.- TOP is sleeveless, fitted, lined, closed with cream colored leather buttons and hidden snaps. It has slits in the side seams meant for a cream leather belt, which I still have. Measurements: 36" bust, 35" waist, 21" length from back neck to hem.- SKIRT: Gently gathered into waistband with invisible side pockets, lined. Measurements: 26" waist, 24" length, 40" hem circumference. Just below knee length.- BELT: cream leather, narrow. It is slightly soiled at the tip where it threads through the buckle. The dress is equally lovely with or without the belt,- TAILORING: The ensemble has many hand made details, especially on the inside, which I've photographed extensively. Was it Coco Chanel (or Dior?) who said that a couture dress should be as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside. This one is.- CONDITION: Remarkably good, considering its age There are only two issues of note: very light perspiration staining along the seam of the right arm pit. Barely noticeable (see final photo). And the belt, as I mentioned above, is slightly soiled at the end. Otherwise the outfit is pristine.
