Description: Studio Art Pottery Vase Hand Thrown Vintage Sgraffito Decoration Cipher Mark Description and Item Information Up for sale is this hand thrown and decorated vintage studio pottery vase. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This modernist stoneware vase has abstract, textured, incised decoration on its unglazed exterior. There is glaze on the interior and rim area; I'm not sure if the glaze covers all the way to the interior bottom or not, since it seems to have been a thin application. It stands approximately 5 3/16 inches tall, and it has a maximum diameter of about 5 1/2 inches. Unpacked, it weighs 1 pound 9.9 ounces. This would be a neat addition to a collection of studio art pottery. Identification This piece is marked beneath with an impressed cipher mark, as shown. The exact age of this mid-century modern style pot is not known, but it is vintage. This piece was acquired in northern California. Condition This vase looks great overall, with no chips or cracks. It has very light wear overall. Variations in decoration are as made. There are some extra clay bits fused to the exterior, as made.
