I don't know if that coloration is a finish applied to the underlying silver-colored metal or if the metal just got that way over time. There is a section on the back side of the opener where the silver-colored metal shows. This opener is attracted to a magnet. I also don't know when this opener was made. The manufacturer was absorbed into another local company in 2016, so it's a good bet it is older than that. Shipping Notes: I'll pack this well for safe travels.
