Also included in this in set as originally sold - see the photos - are- Certificate Of Authenticity (it is hand-numbered, but the sigs are reproduced, as originally sold)- three reproduced typewritten sheets with bio, biblio and other promotional text- one small paper advising the use of the supplied plastics for preserving the photo-prints Some or all of these additional contents are usually missing when this portfolio is found used! Stephen E. Fabian (Stephen Emil Fabian Sr.) was born January 3rd, 1930. His artwork began appearing in sci-fi and pulp fanzines, as well as for books published by small imprints, in the 1960s when he was in his 30s. By the '70s he was a full fledged professional, specializing in science fiction and fantasy illustration and cover art for book covers and interiors and magazine, as well as portfolios and books collecting his art. Fabian also produced artwork for TSR's Dungeons & Dragons game from 1986 to 1995, particularly on the Ravenloft line. He was self-taught, two of his primary influences being Virgil Finlay and Hannes Bok. His work is usually signed Stephen Fabian or Stephen E. Fabian.Fabian was a recipient of the World Fantasy Award for Life Achievement in 2006. He has also been a two-time nominee for the Hugo Award for Best Fan Artist (1970 and 1971), and a seven-time nominee for the Hugo Award for Best Professional Artist (1975–1981). Collections of his work include Ladies & Legends (1993) and Stephen E. Fabian's Women & Wonders (1995).
