Description: This bird has unique, natural ridges that make it one of a kind. While working as a logger, Stan Langtwait molded figures out of mud and clay. He made birds and animals and more. He then placed these shapes on tree stumps to dry and collected them at the end of the day. Starting in the 1950s, he created pottery known as "Shapes of Clay" at his factory in Graham, WA. After the eruption of Mount St. Helens in 1980, Stan incorporated ash from the mountain into his statues.
