Description: Saint Kateri TekakwithaSingle Decade RosaryThe 1" nickel silver St Kateri medal has a traditional image of the saint and "pray for us" on the reverse. The 1-3/4" silver-toned San Damiano crucifix St Francis of Assisi's Prayer of Peace in English on the back. (It's only half the prayer, but we include a card with the full prayer plus info on the San Damiano crucifix.) Both crucifix and medal were made in Italy. The chaplet itself was designed and handmade by me in the USA. St Kateri's face was marred with smallpox scars after an epidemic which killed her family. At her death it was said that her scars disappeared and her face became radiant and beautiful. So I chose a beautiful combination of beads for this courageous young woman. All eleven beads are 8 mm. The ten Hail Mary beads are genuine Czech glass, faceted and fire-polished, in alternating aurora borealis light aqua and light rose pink colors. The single Our Father is a smooth, round, genuine Rose Quartz.Chaplet is about 9-1/2 long and comes gift boxed and with the following:carry pouchRosary pamphletSt Kateri prayer cardLitany of the Lily of the Mohawks cardSan Damiano Crucifix/Prayer of Peace cardSt Francis of Assisi prayer cardDivine Mercy card15 Promises of Mary cardgift bag and tissue paper Kateri (also called Catherine) Tekakwitha was the daughter of a Christian Algonquin woman who was captured and given in marriage to a Mohawk chief. She was orphaned during a smallpox epidemic which left her face scarred. When she was baptized a Christian she suffered persecution from her Mohawk relatives and tribe, and escaped from them to join a village of other Christian Native Americans. When she died in 1680, it was said that the scars on her face disappeared and her face became beautiful again. Her grave became (and still is) a place of miracles. She is the first Native American to be beatified. St Kateri is the patron saint of Ecology and the environment and those who seek to protect and conserve our beautiful natural resources, which is fitting as she lived in the beautiful northern forests of upstate New York and the Adirondacks. She is also a patron of orphans and people who are ridiculed for their piety and is a powerful saint and a favorite of young people and fans of anything Native American and Christian nature-lovers. The prayer cards which come with our rosaries, medals and pictures are home-made, created using a "greeting card" program on a computer and printed in full color on nice quality paper. Although they are not like the usual smaller professionally printed prayer cards, most of our customers prefer them since they are like a pamphlet with 4 "pages" and several images, prayers, patronages and often other information about the saint or Catholic devotion. Any questions please ask! Visit our Ebay store where we have more religious medals, as well as our specialty - Chaplets on hundreds of different Saints and Catholic Devotions. We also have hand made pressed flower religious pictures and (in season) our own organic dried herbs and potpourri. Pray the Rosary for World Peace!
