Description: St. Augustine, FLORIDA - Alcazars & Cordova Hotels - MOORISH ARCHITECTURE 1914: The Alcazar Hotel was opened by Henry Flagler on December 25, 1888. Bits building was designed by Carrere and Hastings with Supervising Architect J. W. Ingle. It contained swimming pools, Russian, Turkish and electric baths, and there were tropical gardens, tennis courts, casino, café, concert rooms. The Cordova Hotel, originally a separate structure, was united with the Alcazar Hotel as its east wing. The combined construction typified the Spanish Renaissance, with the Cordova wing suggesting, in its heavy walls and battlemented towers, Moorish treatment. Today the building is used as St. Augustine's City Hall and Lightner Museum. This Divided Back Era postcard, mailed in 1914, is in good condition, but shows some edge wear. Published by W. J. Harris Co. St Augustine, Fla.
