Description: Wonderful Original Souvenir Glossy B&W Photo of woman and her ball posing by the pool and bar on the deck of the SS Flandre 1953. Photo by Georges Gratiet studio stamp on back. The attractive woman holding the ball is Nancy Nahon from NYC. Her two friends (or relatives we don't know their names) are to her left seated and another standing behind bench. We have other photos and documents of hers and know the trip occurred in 1953. She went on other cruises with same women. Photo measures approx. 7 x 9.5". Nancy was a descendant of the Nahon Furniture Co. family and was quite wealthy. She married a man named Mark Fein in 1956. In 1963, events occur that drastically change her and her children's lives. More specifically, in Oct. 1963, Mark Fein (her husband) shot and killed his bookie in NYC to whom he owed a sizable sum of money from some bad bets on the World Series. Fein's prostitute lover and a couple of accomplices dumped the body in the Harlem River while Fein took his wife to dinner. Eventually the lover implicated Fein and he was found guilty of 2nd degree murder and sentenced to 30 years. The story made national headlines including many tabloids and pulp magazines. He was paroled in 1977. Nancy and 3 children left him and the family dropped his name. Photo condition is good. Great collectible on multiple levels. Watermark for listing purposes only.
