Loved for its nostalgia and warm recollections of Christmases past, Christmas Tree is one of the world's best known holiday designs since its introduction in 1938. Christmas Tree adds a distinctive charm to every table....celebrating traditions and creating memories. Christmas Tree was in production until the close of the Spode factory in 2009 and was still produced in 2011 under the Spode brand from Portmeirion. This service for 4 contains: Year Made 4 dinner plates (10.75 inches) 1988 4 salad plates (7.75 inches) 1989 4 bread plates (6.5 inches) 1989 4 fruit bowls (5.75 X 1.25 inches) 1990 4 mugs (3.25 X 3 inches) 1980 This set was not bought as a set. I have been collecting Spode "Christmas Tree " china for many years and have put together a 20 piece set for the convenience of my buyers. On the back of each piece is a stamp which indicates the pattern number (S3324 for Christmas Tree), a letter which indicates the year it was made, and the location where it was made. All of my pieces were made in England. Letters A-N were made in 1976-1989 P-W were made in 1990-1997 Y-Z were made in 1998-1999 Until about 2006, the Christmas Tree china was made in England, but production then was moved to Malaysia. To some collectors and enthusiasts, not having their Spode collection made in England....where Spode itself was born...reduced its exclusivity and appeal.
