Description: This is an excellent condition copy of SPI's, A GLEAM OF BAYONETS, published by TSR in 1983, after they acquired SPI's assets. The game was designed by Richard Berg and is vol#7 in the original Great Battles of the American Civil War series. AGoB, is a simulation of the battle fought in the fields and along the banks of Antietam Creek near Sharpsburg, Maryland on September 17, 1862; the single bloodiest day in American Military History. The battle was the culmination of the Maryland Campaign of 1862 and witnessed the ragged and weary Army off Northern Virginia, led by Robert E. Lee, battle The Army of the Potomac and its commander George B. McClellan to a standstill, although outnumbered 2 to 1. The game uses a scale of 125 yard hexes and 20 minute game turns. Infantry and cavalry strength points represent 50 men and artillery 1 gun. This change in scale for strength points was continued in subsequent games and represented an evolution in the original design from Terrible Swift Sword. The rules also introduced Green Unit Morale, Double Time, Melee Initiation Morale and Artillery Rapid Fire. The components are in excellent condition. The rules booklets are crisp, clean and solid, with some fading from age. The game maps are also crisp and clean with bright colors. The unpunched counter sheets are pristine. The game box is solid with some evidence edgewear. The game trays are solid and unused.
