Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Member of the Union of Journalists of the USSR. Valentin Viktorov was born in Samara. He studied at the Moscow State Technical School of Fine Arts in Memory of the Revolution of 1905 (1927-1931). From the late 1920s, he was a member of the Youth Organization of the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia (OMAHRR). Member of the Great Patriotic War. He mainly worked in the genre of political posters. One of the artist's first posters was dedicated to road safety ("Stop. Be careful on the street!", 1935), in 1947 he made a poster "May 9 - the holiday of victory over Germany." In the post-war years, he collaborated with the publishing houses "Art", "Fine Art", "Planet". Designed and illustrated magazines: "Knowledge is power", "Spark", "Soviet warrior", "Wings of the Motherland", "Science and Life" and others. Since 1954, he worked at the All-Union Chamber of Commerce - the leading artist of Soviet exhibitions abroad - in Vienna, Damascus, Zagreb, Izmir, Ljubljana, Milan, Oklahoma (USA), Shanghai. Since the 1950s, he collaborated with the publishing house IZOGIZ, since 1974 - with the publishing house Plakat. One of the most prolific poster artists of the 1960s and 70s. He made posters on the topics of agriculture and the navy, political posters dedicated to public holidays, elections and party congresses. Some of the artist's later posters of the 70s and 80s are characterized by excessive simplification, conciseness and sketchiness.
