I don't even own 400 dvd's to test it but what I loaded it recognized quickly and plays great. Once I put on new belts it made operation very quiet and flawless. Be sure to read label to load discs correctly. This is not the model with HDMI it will include HD component cables to hook up. This dvd player is an absolute beast. Please be sure it is the right unit for you before ordering. I entered actual dimensions and weight for calculated shipping and gave multiple options.
