Description: Up for auction is an HO scale Stanley Soho & Co. SP 67' Rebuilt Coach. This is SOHO model number 0202. The model is of brass construction and was made by Kumata of Japan and was imported in 1973. 340 cars of this type were imported. This car best represent Harriman design steel coaches originally made from 1915-1916 by Pullman. This model best represents cars in classes C-60-6, C-60-8 and C-60-9 that had their upper sash windows plated over in the 1930s and that had 6 wheel trucks added. The model has Utility vents. If you replace these with Globe vents you can model the C-60-7 class with this model. If you remove the vents and place patch panels over the roof vent openings you can use this car as an air conditioned car. Ice air conditioning was typically used on these early air conditioned cars. Use photos as a guide to customizing this car. This model has Utility roof vents It also features full vestibule doors and inner walls. This model includes 6 wheel trucks. You may also want to add some more underbody detail like a water tank, brake gear, a generator and a center sill and bolsters. Add ice air conditioning bunkers if you are keeping the 6 wheel trucks. If leaving the vents on the car, 4 wheel trucks were more common. This car makes a good start to a fine model at a fraction of the price of other brass alternatives (PSC $$$ and Coach Yard $$$$$). Cars of this type were used in mainline service early in their lives. As time marched on cars of this type were used more in secondary and pool service trains. Occasionally cars of this design were used as rider cars on mail trains or as cabooses on Overnight express trains. Some cars of this type lasted into the 1960s and a few lasted even longer in Maintenance of Way service. This is my only one of these with 6 wheel trucks.
