Description: Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson Hardcover First Book Club Edition New York: Bantam, 1992. A cult classic science fiction novel which influenced the creation of virtual worlds such as Second Life. Smaller size, no price on the jacket, and no printing number-line which indicates it's a book club. The original trade hardcover as issued by Bantam runs a hefty $2000+ right now! So this is a far more economic alternative with the very innovative jacket artwork by Jean-Francois Podevin where the virtual world is at first blurry and comes into existence. Fine in Fine-/Near Fine++ Dust Jacket binding. A really nice copy, the book itself is perfect, clean pages, clean boards, straight corners. The jacket would be near-perfect save a hint of toning to the spine, some crinkling at bottom of the spine, small blue mark to the lower edge of the front, and a tiny closed slit at the bottom back, repaired with archival adhesive. Still an exceptional copy. NOTE on edition: Snow Crash was originally published in simultaneous hardcover and trade paperback issues in 1992 by Bantam Spectra US. Reportedly no more than 650 copies were issued in trade hardcover, the balance, probably something like 20,000 copies, were issued in trade paperback. Because of the small print-run, the trade hardcover sold out very quickly and became collectible because of the high demand versus low supply. (There are books from the 1500's such as the first complete Luther Bible of 1530 which was issued in 3000 copies!) It now appears to trade for $2000+ on the collectible book market. This is a nice much more economic alternative to own Stephenson's most famous novel for about a 10% of the price of the hefty premium for the trade hardcover as issued by Bantam Spectra. (There was no UK hardcover edition so far as I know.) NOTE: All modern books with dust jackets come with dust jacket covers. ALSO: The picture is the actual item for sale. (The picture is NOT a stock photo.) IMPORTANT NOTE: All sales are generally FINAL. I do NOT accept returns because of buyer's remorse, "it was a gift but the recipient already had it", or "I found the same book at a better price". I am not selling new items to compete with other retailers. Returns are only accepted because of discrepancies regarding edition and/or condition of which I try to be very thorough in researching the edition/printing as well as describing ALL condition issues. So make sure you're 100% positive you desire one of my items before making a purchase. NOTE on USPS Shipping: Media mail shipping $6.50 or priority flat-rate medium box, $16.50, $42.50 international. I tend to ship on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays sometimes on Friday. I do not ship on Mondays and Saturdays. NOTE on FEEDBACK: If you have problem with an order for any reason, please contact me before leaving feedback! 99% of the time we can resolve the problem. It is much more difficult to change feedback once left. A Word on First Editions: 95% of my offerings are trade editions, and 90% of those are first printings. In general I do NOT sell bookclub editions or cheap reprints like Modern Library except in rare instances which would be explicitly stated as such. In general, I also DO NOT sell x-library copies. If the book is both a first edition AND a first printing, it will be marked as “first edition” in the Item Specifics under “Special Attributes”, otherwise assume a later printing or a later edition. Any further questions, please email me. I try my very best to accurately describe condition. Disputes in condition of items must be resolved within 15 days of shipment of item.
