While she was a homemaker she earned an MS in secondary English at Old Dominion University before returning to teach high school English in Virginia Beach. Since her permanent retirement she has traveled, played with her grandchildren, and written two books, this book of poems for adults and students, and a book of childhood memoirs about growing up in her great grandmothers house.
