Description: This little Victorian advertising booklet for the Johnston Harvester Company of Batavia, New York is just 5 1/2 by 3 1/4 inches with 12 pages. It's titled They Cheered the Chief - there's a picture of George Washington, but the ''chief'' here is the Continental Disk Pulverizer. The booklet tells a story in rhyme with nice detailed chromolithograph drawings. An old man tell his wife about his trip to the county fair - the highlight was a contest at which the Johnston Pulverizer was demonstrated and won a prize - the old man breaks the news to his wife that he ordered one! At the end of the booklet are black and white drawings of the company's pulverizer, disk cultivator, Continental and Globe mowers, Continental reaper and Steel binder. There are no prices or details - readers are invited to send for a catalog. The booklet is lightly toned, but otherwise in very good condition.
