Description: Small German Vintage Pe De or PeDe Dienes Wooden Base & Metal Crank Type Coffee Mill Grinder Made in Germany. Base measures 3 5/8" x 4 5/8". Has one small drawer that the ground coffee empties into. Good complete condition - see my photos. It has a nice aged patina showing it is an older version. PeDe Dienes is a German coffee mill company founded by Peter Dienes in 1869. The logo features the word "PeDe" and a deer with a cross on its head. The logo is based on the myth of a guardian spirit in Germany in the 7th and 8th century, as can be seen in the logo of Jägermeister, a German liqueur brand.Mr. Dienes himself died in 1899, but his sons, Friedrich and Peter Gottlieb, took over the business.
